Oliver Zulliger, better known as DJ Spaceman, has been one of the defining figures of the Swiss and international trance scene for decades. His musical journey began in 1997, when he first fell under the spell of the euphoric sounds of legendary DJ mixtapes – the moment when the trance virus finally took hold of him.

 

In the same year, he immersed himself in rave culture. Nights at Nachtwerk Thun and Tenniscenter Marin ignited his passion for good. The defining moment came in 1998: at the mega rave Goliath at the Guggelman-Areal Roggwil, he knew that his place was not in front of the turntables, but behind them. Shortly thereafter, he and a friend invested in two Technics MK2s and a mixer—the beginning of an uncompromising dedication to the craft of DJing.

 

By 1999, DJ Spaceman was already playing his first private events and quickly found his way into the club scene. Between 1999 and 2005, he became a fixture in the Swiss trance landscape. He played at legendary venues such as The Dawn and Gate One in Ittiger Stuffenbau, Temple, Wasserwerk, Guayas, Prestig, and Bierhübeli Underground in Bern, as well as Unit, The Legend, and Ohm 15 in Biel. As a resident DJ at The Dawn and Bierhübeli Underground Afterhours, he helped shape an era.

 

He also impressed on larger rave stages, including Warcraft 5 & 6 at Bierhübeli and the Winter Festival in Flamatt. Further events around Bern cemented his reputation as an energetic performer with an unmistakable sense of dramaturgy and atmosphere.

 

In 2005, DJ Spaceman took a creative break to further his professional development. But his love of music remained – and in 2012 he returned with new maturity and fresh energy. This was followed by bookings at Redblack Steffisburg, Rattenloch Thun, Borderline, Sommercasino Basel, Wunderbox Zurich, Alte Kaserne Zurich and Freedom Music Geneva. Particularly noteworthy are his performances at Phoenix Records Label Night, Rave Reunion, Spectrum of Sounds, and the legendary vinyl parties at Budeli and Cardasia.
